Our facilities include personal storage space, flat file, internet access, and best of all full access to screenprinting, etching and relief. We are dedicated to fostering an environment of creative exchange and increasing awareness of printmaking in the Richmond community. Photogravure!

After the conference Sarah and Ashley were lucky enough to learn the technique of photogravure from gurus Tim Baker and Sarah Howard of the USF Institute for Research in Art. They devoted three days to teaching our group the very involved process, and were kind and generous throughout. A thank you to Tim and Sarah, as well as to Holly Morrison, who arranged for the workshop to happen. We now feel way smarter, and we like that.

SGC CommandP Conference

The SGC conference was a great time, we met some fantastic people, and want to thank everyone that came to the Studio 23 opening reception Saturday the 29th. We got a lot of positive feedback and helpful advice, which we appreciate. We're excited to use what we learned at the conference to set up our screenprinting and litho facilities this summer. Look out world...

Grand Opening

WE'RE OPEN FOR REAL AND THERE'S SNACKS!

Come to Studio 23 on Saturday, March 29th from 6-11pm to celebrate our grand opening in concurrence with the Southern Graphics Council CommandP Conference. There will be food and drinks, and party time. We've installed our first show in the gallery space, showcasing LOL the CommandP BFF 4EVA Portfolio. Here's a little bit about the portfolio:
On the occasion of SGC CommandP 2008, Studio 23 has gathered a group of VCU faculty, graduate students and alumni to create LOL the CommandP BFF 4EVA Portfolio. Referring to the condensed language of abbreviations, symbols, and standardized phrases perpetuated by ever expanding digital communication, LOL addresses the function of print in the midst of this newfound domination of the screen (i.e. computers, cell phones and television). Digital technology is often portrayed as growing at the expense of traditional printmaking, but many young artists prove the two can inform each other. The artists selected represent the recent resurgence of print media in VCU's PAPR department.

See you Saturday night!
